Ball Bounce Lab.
For my art school project, I created a ball bounce animation study to explore the core principles of animation, such as squash and stretch, anticipation, and timing. The focus was on making the ball’s movement feel natural and dynamic, while emphasizing the physicality of the bounce. By exaggerating the compression and elongation of the ball as it hits the ground and rebounds, I aimed to convey the weight, speed, and energy of the motion in a way that feels both believable and engaging.
Freshman Year Title Sequence.
In my freshman year we had an assignment to make a title sequence for a film that did not have one or at least did not have a “good” one. I chose to create a title sequence for Mirror Mask, a visually stunning yet underappreciated film. While the movie's surreal world is rich with dreamlike imagery, I felt the existing title sequence didn’t fully do justice to its imaginative style. My goal was to craft an opening that would immediately immerse viewers in the film's unique visual language.
Caught in Camera abstraction.
I created a title sequence using a 100mm macro lens to explore abstraction through extreme close-ups. The macro lens allowed me to focus on the smallest details of everyday objects, revealing hidden textures, patterns, and subtle nuances that are usually overlooked. By pulling these details into the frame, I was able to transform familiar objects into something unrecognizable, evoking a sense of mystery and curiosity.
In addition to playing with focus and motion, I used color grading as a tool to enhance the mood and texture of the sequence. The process involved carefully adjusting the hues and contrasts to create an atmosphere that complemented the abstract visuals. Warm tones, cool shadows, and subtle shifts in color helped to build depth and emphasize certain textures, giving the sequence a dreamlike quality. The color palette became an extension of the story, adding layers of emotion and intrigue to the already enigmatic visuals.
This project was a great exercise in exploring the relationship between detail, light, and color. It challenged me to think outside the box, not just about composition but also how color can shape perception and influence the viewer’s emotional response. Ultimately, it reinforced my belief that inspiration can be found in the smallest things around us, and sometimes, it takes a closer look—and a little color magic—to reveal something truly captivating.
Graphic Design.
In school, I had the opportunity to explore graphic design, and one of the most memorable assignments was creating an album cover for our favorite music genre. I chose to design a cover for trap metal, a genre that speaks to me with its raw, intense energy. My inspiration came primarily from Zheani, an artist known for her fierce, unapologetic expression of power through both her music and her visual presence. She often conveys strength and vulnerability through her body, using her image to challenge conventions and evoke a sense of discomfort.
With that in mind, I wanted my album cover to mirror that same sense of unease and intensity. I aimed to create a visual that wasn't just striking, but unsettling—something that would make the viewer feel a bit off-balance. To achieve this, I incorporated Zheani’s empowering, yet confrontational style, while drawing from Die Antwoord's bold, graffiti-inspired typography. The result was a cover that captured the raw, chaotic spirit of trap metal, with a visual tension that forces the viewer to engage, even if it makes them uncomfortable.
Photography.
After leaving school, I developed a deep interest in photography, and it quickly became a way for me to capture the world around me in a way that felt meaningful. One of my greatest joys is photographing my cats and documenting our adventures together. Whether it's their playful antics, quiet moments, or the unique bond we share, I love telling their stories through my lens. This passion has also sparked a larger mission for me: to inspire others to create more enriching, fulfilling lives for their own cats. I believe every cat deserves to have a life full of joy, exploration, and connection, and I hope my photos encourage others to see their pets in a new light, leading to deeper, more enriching relationships.
Misc. Art.
Throughout my life, I've explored many forms of art, each medium shaping my creative journey in unique ways. I began as a painter, focusing primarily on traditional techniques, but during high school, my passion shifted towards drawing. By the time I reached college, my work evolved almost entirely into the realm of digital art. Each phase has allowed me to experiment and refine my skills, pushing boundaries with every new piece. Here are just a few examples of the work I've created along the way.
Figure Drawing.
In college, figure drawing was a significant part of my studies, and while I’ve made progress, it’s a skill I’m still actively working to refine and explore further. That said, here are a couple of pieces that represent some of the stronger examples of my work in this area. I’m excited to continue developing my technique and pushing myself to capture the human form in new ways.
Sewn Art.
Over the past few years, I've developed a growing interest in sewing, and it's quickly become a creative outlet I enjoy exploring. So far, I've crafted around 70 Christmas stockings for my family, a handful of plushies, vibrant "Boho" curtains, and several cozy cat "pouches" for my sphynx cat. While I’m still early in my journey with this medium, I’ve already made noticeable progress and am excited to continue expanding my skills and experimenting with new projects.
